I know the device you mean, and had wondered about that myself. I was told that, by having the belt in the correct position at the time of impact, the belt would be kept there by the forces of the impact. However, I have my doubts, and learned a long time ago that mechanics don't always know everything about cars. So, I don't know. I will see if I can find out. Filksinger AKA David Nasset, Sr.
