Mat's using a pseudo-html convention in which </whatever> means you're now turning off whatever. <pontificating> Usually you start by setting the emotion by enclosing it in angle brackets and then turn it off. </pontificating> D&D's bad name is (as you probably know) unwarranted. Investigation shows that teenaged D&Ders are less apt to commit suicide or act biolently than teenaged non-D&Ders. And (as you probably know) D&D doesn't involve any belief that any of the characters are real, including not just the player character warriors and mages and all but also the non-player characters, and doesn't involve any tie-in with any occult sects. --Lee Gold
