When I was in junior high school, they pretty much ignored anything that didn't require hospital treatment. If there was a lot of parental pressure they might keep the victim inside during recess which at least restricted the harassment to what happened when teachers were present. Is it a surprise that the happiest day I ever spent in that school system was the day I graduated from high school and knew I could leave and never go back? BTW, my parents did have guns around (my dad was military), and I was taught how to use them, but I never considered shooting myself (or anyone else). I certainly considered other means of suicide, and if I had not had really terrific parents and a good home environment, I probably would have done it. I feel at least as sorry for the shooters in these school tragedies as I do for any of the victims. Robin Holly
