I've been waiting for the thread to jump over.

I wasn't tormented to any great degree when I was a kid, but I sure
noticed a double standard operating.  I as a 'good student' could get
away with many things that 'known troublemakers' would get trundled off
to the office over.  (I'm talking about low-level stuff here
... wandering around the halls during class hours, etc.)  I'm sure the
known troublemakers noticed all the things they didn't get away with
things.

... who would be in constant trouble under current 'zero tolerence'
policies if I were a teen.  I would probably be in trouble as a parent, 
if I were one.
