Hi Bill! I've been handling the single point of contact so far on an informal basis, but that is the maximum that I dare to do without it being generally assumed that I'm running everything (and that therefore nobody else needs to do anything). What I need now is somebody or bodies who will take on the role of the official liaison for filk programming with the committee. This would, I expect, eventually grow into the team that is actually running the filk programme. It doesn't have to be the same person all the time, but it does need someone to take on the commitment of getting that team organised, and in the meantime handling whatever comes up. This is needed so that: The committee can have an official name in their list (which WorldCon committees seem to like!) but mainly so they can be convinced that we are actually serious about running a programme, enough for them to allocate resources to us. We appear to be running out of time to convince them. The filkers can be assured that there is definitely going to be a filk programme organised, *before* they send in their hotel bookings. That is, before September 2nd 2004. From comments on FILK_UK, several people have already indicated that no filk programme = no show. I can be assured that there is somebody who is actually going to be responsible for getting things done, so I can stop nagging everyone! Rafe
