I haven't had a chance to look at this song closely yet (being at work and
all), but I think that's good advice in general.  In the OK Chorale, we're
rehearsing "The Green Hills of Earth" (words by Robert Heinlein, melody by
Mark Bernstein, harmonization by Ed Stauff).  The number of syllables per
line changes between verses... very confusing.
