In My Books (originally written last year sometime, revised today) Based on "In My Life" by John Lennon & Paul McCartney There are places I'll remember All my life though some have changed. Some will stay that way forever Some will grow, and some will change. All these places have their moments With wonders and friends I still can recall, Some are real and some are fiction In my books, I've seen them all. I have tessered with the witches, I have been afraid of Aslan too, I've followed Laura 'cross the prairies, But I'm always up for something new. And I know I'll never lose affection For people in books I've read before I know I'll often stop to read about them In my books, I'll join them more. And I know I'll never lose affection For people in books I've read before I know I'll often stop to read about them In my books, I'll join them more. In my books, I'll join them more. -=-=-=- Some background: Last year, I wrote this. Feeling somewhat puffed up over the fact that Lee had published 2 of my songs, in quick succession, in Xeno, I sent it directly to her rather than to rmf. She pointed out that as it wasn't a parody, it borrowed too heavily from the original for her to be comfortable with publishing it. She was right, and I've been meaning to get back to it... and this list gave me an excuse. <grin> I still haven't changed the first two lines to make more distance from the original because, well... that was the inspiration, and it's meant as a tribute.
