Subject: Sunday 2PM: David HB Drake Concert - Barb's Basement

Hi Folks,

For our last concert of the 2003 season, we are most honored to present DAVID
HB DRAKE
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 2003 at 2:00PM

Besides being a fine performer and instrumentalist, David is an ongoing well
of inspiration as a community builder and activist, performing and promoting
benefits for a wide spectrum of social causes. It would be remiss of me not to
mention his tireless efforts in that regard. Be sure to ask him to include
you on his email list where he keeps folks apprised not just of his
performances but also about many other Celtic and Folk events in our area.
This is one incredible man, be sure to check out his website at:
www.davidhbdrake.com

Please feel free and encouraged to pass on this info to other folks who may
be interested.
If you're planning to attend, let us know - it really does help. Thanks!
Hope to see you this Sunday.

And now a bit more about David HB Drake:

David HB Drake has been called a "gentle troubadour" and an "elemental
folksinger". The waters of the Great Lakes flow in his songs, feeding the rich
Wisconsin prairie where his music takes root. His love of the earth, love of good
work, and love of others blend in an evening of original writing, traditional
songs, and works by contemporary singer/songwriters in the folk tradition.
The echoes of his mentors Tom Paxton, Phil Ochs, Stan Rogers, Harry Belafonte,
Paul Stookey and Gordon Bok are woven in his music.

The Folk Alliance Region Midwest presented David the "Lantern Bearer" Life
Achievement Award in 2003. He was named the Wisconsin Area Music Industry’s
2002 Folk Music Artist of the Year and 2001 Family Music Artist of the Year. His
KIDSTUFF album received an Honor award for Audio Recordings from Parents’
Choice Magazine and David serves as the resident musician for the "Denis
Sullivan", flagship of the Wisconsin Lake Schooner Project, has served aboard the "HMS
BOUNTY" and "CLEARWATER" and has been a professional actor, dancer, and
swordfighter. David HB Drake has appeared on Wisconsin and national Public Radio,
public television, and in concert at festivals and stages throughout the
Midwest. Performances include Summerfest and Irish Fest in Milwaukee, Annapolis
Maritime Festival, Ashland Folk Festival, and Door County Maritime Festival, The
World Sing-out for Peace, and at a labor and environmental rallies alongside
Pete Seeger. David was awarded the 2001 Community Arts Development Award from
the Wisconsin Assembly for Local Arts for his work with the homeless, social
causes, the environment, and mentoring young artists and arts groups.

His songs appear on the albums of other midwestern performers and he has
several CD’s of his own available including: "Secret Garden" , "One More Horizon"
, "Wisconsing" , "Kidstuff" , "A Schooner Songbag" , "Heartland" , "Let There
Be Light" and "Wish I had a Troubadour".

VICTORY REVIEW Acoustic Music Review Magazine writes: "This friendly
collection of traditionally inspired material has a great deal of down home heart and
soul. . .as welcoming and kindly as a back porch sing-along on a summer's
day".

An afternoon with David HB Drake is one you won’t want to miss! Looking
forward to seeing all of you Sunday for a memorable performance you will treasure
warmly.
