Consonance is going to stage the filk operetta "HMS Trek-a-Star", written mostly by Dorothy Jones Heydt and Karen Anderson, to tunes by Gilbert and Sullivan from "HMS Pinafore." As far as we know, "Trek-a-Star" has been staged only twice: at Westercon in 1967 and at Worldcon in 1968. We are still looking for someone to play the part of Chekov. If you would like to volunteer, email Alan Thiesen at thiesen at netwizards dot net. We think "HMS Trek-a-Star" is very cleverly done. To read the script, go to http://www.consonance.org, click on "Events", scroll down to the heading "Consonance Workshops", and glance up one line. You may perform with script in hand, but you will be expected to read through the script beforehand and make sure you know the melodies you will sing, so that only one run-through will be needed at the con prior to the actual performance. Both the rehearsal and the performance will be on Sunday, March 9. Costumes are desirable but optional. A sign with your character's name on it is sufficient. Any other costuming is icing on the cake. Thanks! Alan Thiesen Consonance: http://www.consonance.org
