It's about time for another filk sing.
Saturday, February 11, 2006
6pm - midnight (maybe later)* -- arrive anytime before 10pm
Willow Park Clubhouse
Moffett Bldv. & W. Middlefield Road
Mountain View, CA 94043
Format: Filk sing; probably chaos style, possibly some kind of
modified bardic circle, or one of these days we may try something
experimental, such as Index Card Preprogrammed Bardic. Depends on
how things seem to be flowing.
Beverages: In memory of Cynthia McQuillin, bring something red to
drink. (Not necessarily ruby wine.)
Food: Bring munchies if you want. The clubhouse even has a kitchen
nook. If you'd like to solidify the McQuillin theme, some
appropriate choices would be: (1) Chocolates -- especially dark
chocolates with fine liquor centers ("Sweet Obsessions"), but not
M&M's or Brahmn's (what's the title of that one?). (2) Any food
containing the word "baby" ("One Size Fits All"). Or maybe we'll
order pizza.
Attire: Black lace optional. (For ladies. Purple satin optional
for gentlemen.) :-)
Location: Mountain View, northwest of Hangar One. Willow Park is
bounded by 85, Moffett Blvd., and West Middlefield Road. The
Clubhouse is roughly in the middle, and all three entrances lead to
it, more or less, but the easiest one is the one on Moffett Blvd.
Google Map: http://tinyurl.com/b4h6l
Directions: By car, take either 101 or 85 and get off on Moffett
Blvd. heading southwest, toward downtown (i.e. away from Moffett
Field). From Caltrain or LRT, get off at the Mountain View station
and walk 1.2km toward Moffett Field. (Getting back late at night is
another story.) In the unlikely event that anyone is planning to get
here under their own power (e.g., bike, foot, roller blade), Moffett
Blvd. is the one street that the Stevens Creek Trail crosses at grade
level; go south one block and turn left. Despite the address (500 W.
Middlefield), the clubhouse is right off of Moffett Blvd. (The
Middlefield entrance is more roundabout and involves a couple of left
turns.) Enter on the first driveway on Moffett that is north of the
Middlefield cross-street (and south of where 85 passes over) and look
for a raised glass structure just ahead of you and on your left.
Parking: You can park in any unnumbered space. (The numbered spots
are generally the covered ones.) However, Willow Park has added a
new rule. Guests are asked "to distribute the parking of their
vehicles to the areas between buildings 9 and 10, behind building 4,
and in front of building 26 to alleviate parking congestion in the
area between the clubhouse and building 1." You can check the map
outside the Clubhouse if you want to know which buildings it's
talking about, but it boils down to not filling up all the parking in
front of the Clubhouse.
Hope to see many of you there!

* Normally events have to end by midnight, but I've applied for
special permission to keep the Clubhouse later. It's always been
granted in the past, and I think it will continue to be, as long as
we keep the doors closed after 10pm and no one makes noise when
leaving. Honoring the new request about parking may also help.
