Reminder: There will be a filk sing this Saturday, April 30, in the Willow Park clubhouse. Let's try starting this one at 4pm, and see what happens. I know it's the day before a Pagan holiday, and also the second-to-last day of a Jewish holiday, but a week before would have been even worse for the latter, and any earlier would have been too soon after Consonance. "Everybody's got lots of conventions and holidays, and there's just so many weekends in a year." I've already concluded that the last six weeks of every year are considered Christmas, and it's hard to avoid the nimbus of every other holiday and event. Satuday April 30, 4pm - ??am (arrive anytime before 10pm) Format: Filk sing; probably chaos style, possibly some kind of modified bardic circle, or one of these days we may try something experimental, such as Index Card Preprogrammed Bardic. Depends on how things seem to be flowing. Food: Bring munchies if you want. The clubhouse even has a kitchen nook. But don't worry; usually people bring more than enough, and if we need more we can always decide to order pizza. Soda is discouraged, especially 2-liter bottles; I usually have to dump several of those. And under no circumstances should anyone bring Diet Coke; I have plenty of leftover cans from February. Location: Mountain View, northwest of Hangar One. Willow Park is bounded by 85, Moffett Blvd., and West Middlefield Road. The Clubhouse is roughly in the middle, and all three entrances lead to it, more or less. Directions: By car, take either 101 or 85 and get off on Moffett Blvd. heading southwest, toward downtown (i.e. away from Moffett Field). From Caltrain or LRT, get off at the Mountain View station and walk 1.2km toward Moffett Field. (Getting back late at night is another story.) In the unlikely event that anyone is planning to get here under their own power (e.g., bike, foot, roller blade), Moffett Blvd. is the one street that the Stevens Creek Trail crosses at grade level; go south one block and turn left. Despite the address (500 W. Middlefield), the clubhouse is right off of Moffett Blvd. (The Middlefield entrance is more roundabout and involves a couple of left turns.) Enter on the first driveway on Moffett that is north of the Middlefield cross-street (and south of where 85 passes over) and look for a raised glass structure just ahead of you and on your left. Guests may park in any unnumbered spot. Hope to see many of you there! --Kanef
