[ba-filk-announce] Julia Ecklar's Divine Intervention: San Francisco release party &pre-ordering

Hey!

Would anyone be interested in a Divine Intervention release party in San
Francisco on Saturday December 7th? (reply to ba-filk, or by e-mail,
please.)

    I'd like to propose:

    - An afternoon release party at my place with catered sushi for dinner
[there's a great budget sushi place nearby]

    - Around 6:15 PM, we can hop on a waiting historical streetcar and ride
to Fisherman's Wharf together.

    - At 7:00 PM, the Maritime National Historical Park offers free (but
advance reservations required) "Sea Chantey" sings, typically aboard the
hold of a 100-year old historic fishing ship. Jim Partridge is a regular at
these and they're a ton of fun!

This is totally tentative, of course.

    Yours,

    Eli

    THE DIVINE INTERVENTION SAGA
    ----------------------------

It may be hard to believe, but this CD almost didn't happen.

The Divine Intervention CD was the culmination of years of painstaking
effort by members of the original Air Craft Records production team,
Prometheus Music (okay, me ;), and specialized vendors.

The original masters were gone --- toast. We searched everywhere
imaginable, down to anyone who'd ever duplicated cassettes for Air Craft.
Chris Procopio alone searched through hundreds of old Air Craft reels.

We finally tracked down a second-generation set of analog safety backups
lingering in Michael Moricz's basement. They were caked in mold. We hired
media restoration experts Vidipax in New York City. They weren't cheap, but
they meticulously restored the media to as good as analog media gets.

Michael Moricz --- producer of the original album --- oversaw completion
of the CD.

New to the CD edition is "Roxanne", a freshly recorded bonus track
reuniting members of the original cast, alongside Pittsburgh Symphony oboist
Renate Sakins.

Michael also unearthed several never-before-released instrumental mixes,
of which you'll find "Lullaby for a Weary World" and "Temper of Revenge" on
the CD.

The 24-page Digipak album booklet sheds new insight on the saga behind
Divine Intervention and the artistic works within, with compositions by
Julia Ecklar, Michael Moricz, and a surprise guest dedication by SF author
Larry Niven. Lyrics included, too. Woo-hoo!

Design honcho Richard Leeds, whose extensive credits include serving as
Art Director for "Keyboard" and "Guitar Player" magazine, produced drop-dead
wicked packaging for the release.

You can find the final cover snapshot at
<http://www.prometheus-music.com/divine/divine.html>. (And, yes, the winning
cover was "None of the Above".)

The final CD contains a packed 73 minutes of classic and new material:

    1. Overture (3:10)
    2. Ladyhawke! (3:56)
    3. Crimson & Crystal (3:29)
    4. Burnish Me Bright (5:09)
    5. Apocalypse (2:57)
    6. Survivor's Song (3:31)
    7. Terminus Est (3:52)
    8. Fallen Angel (5:14)
    9. Temper of Revenge (6:16)
    10. Crane Dance (4:33)
    11. One Man Magical Show (2:25)
    12. Silver (2:44)
    13. The Hand of God (5:26)
    14. Lullaby for a Weary World (6:13)
    15. Temper of Revenge (6:07)
        [New track -- instrumental mix]
    16. Lullaby for a Weary World (3:48)
[New track -- edited instrumental mix]
    17. Roxanne (4:20)
        [New bonus track]

I earnestly feel that this is the best production and packaging job
that's shipped to date on the Prometheus label -- if not in the history of
filk -- and feel privileged to finally offer it to you.

Of course, all orders are protected by our money-back guarantee.
(Admittedly, nobody has yet to invoke this return policy.)

P.S. If you haven't already heard them, there's sample Divine
Intervention tracks -- alongside several only-on-the-Internet instrumental
mixes -- at <http://mp3.com/ecklar>.
