[3WS-discuss] Gwen Knighton and Three Weird Sisters at SciFi Summer!

Sorry to send this on such short notice, but I just got the finalized
schedule today.

If you're a science fiction fan interested in a low-key way to spend the
weekend, check out Sci-Fi Summer. Their webpage is at
HTTP://www.sci-fi-summer.com/ and has information about registration and
various events going on at the convention. Below is my schedule. Three Weird
Sisters, the band I play in most of the time, will give a concert on Friday
night, and on Saturday afternoon, I will give a solo concert centered around
murder ballads, that is, folk songs wherein at least one person will meet
their doom. I guarantee at least one death in every song!

The convention is being held in the Century Center Marriott, just off I-85
at Clairmont Road, so it's very easy to find; you can see it from the
highway. 

The 1-day price is $10; if you're interested in coming out to see the Three
Weird Sisters concert Friday night, why not come down for the whole evening
and enjoy yourself? There'll be anime, talks by lots of folks in the science
fiction and fandom communities, and, well, I have to have dinner with
/someone/, right?

FRIDAY:
4pm Opening Ceremonies
5:30 Panel, "Harping 101"
10:00 Three Weird Sisters
11:00 Open filking*

SATURDAY:
3pm Murder Ballad concert
10:00 Open filking*

*filk, for those of you who might not know, is the indigenous folk music of
the science fiction fandom community. This is Southern fandom, so by
definition, anything you play at a filk instantly becomes filk music. If
you're a musician, come on down and bring your instruments and your voice to
the Sci-Fi Summer filk; we'll be playing music from 10 or 11 pm until dawn
if I have my druthers. And for those of you who /think/ you know what filk
is and think you might not like it-- think again. There's some very good
music being made in the filk community. You might be pleasantly surprised.
