[3WS-discuss] Periodic Repost of Welcome Message

Welcome to the Three Weird Sisters discussion and announcement list. That's
right, it's not just an announcement list. It's occasionally a forum for
discussion about the band, our style, other bands that people like that
sound kind of like us or whose songs people think we ought to cover, stuff
like that. People on the list helped us name our first CD "Rite The First
Time," and we're sure we'll get more help from them in the future on a
variety of topics. Please, KEEP THIS MESSAGE for future reference. It
contains important information about the mailing list and how to change your
status or subscription (see "Administrativia" below).

Posting Guidelines:

Feel free to post an introduction, let us know where you saw us and what you
thought of us, and don't be afraid to post reviews of our shows, critical or
glowing. We have thick skin. =)

As with all discussion lists, occasionally the topic will veer from its
original course. We do want to keep things as on-topic as possible (and a
lot of things are on-topic). On-topic items include, but are not limited to,
gig reviews, songs you'd like to see the band do, songs we ought to put on
our next CD, places we ought to play, questions about individual songs, that
kind of thing. So far, nothing has been deemed specifically off-topic, but
use common sense as your guide here.

When you post a reply to a message on the list, please copy only the
important bits of the message to which you are replying. Please don't reply
and copy entire messages, or worse yet, entire digests, unless you have
pertinent points to make about everything addressed in the material you've
copied.

Please keep one-liners and 'me-too' messages to a minimum. It's better to
send one message with several bits of information than several messages with
one bit of information in each one.

No flaming. We're a nice little list and this hasn't been a problem, but if
anyone here upsets you badly enough that you feel the need to come down on
them like a hammer of geeky thunder and insult their mother, religion, use
lots of naughty language, or compare them to evil historical personages,
please take it to private email. Anyone not doing so will be warned once.
Anyone not doing so twice will be unsubscribed.

Please, KEEP THIS MESSAGE for future reference, as it contains important
information about the mailing list and how to change your status on the
list. All the commands are very simple and can be sent via email as well as
accessed through a web interface. Keeping this message can reduce the
workload involved with changing your status to a couple of cut-and-paste
moves, typing one or three words, and pressing 'send'. ;)

To send a message to the list, email 3ws-discuss@filknet.org

To subscribe to the list, send email to 3ws-discuss-request@filknet.org with
a subject line of 'subscribe' (you don't need the quotes).

To unsubscribe from the list, send email to 3ws-discuss-request@filknet.org
with a subject line of 'unsubscribe' (you don't need the quotes).

To choose a digest subscription, send email to listar@filknet.org with a
subject line of 'set 3ws-discuss digest' (you don't need the quotes). This
command will change your subscription to digest format.

To change from digest to individual emails, send email to listar@filknet.org
with a subject line of 'unset 3ws-discuss digest' (you don't need the
quotes). This command changes your subscription back to individual emails.

For other mailing list commands, send email to listar@filknet.org with a
subject line of 'commands' (you don't need the quotes), and a list of
commands will be sent to you via return email.

To access the WWW interface and change your subscription to the list or just
to check it out, go to http://www.filknet.org and head for the mailing list
section. You will need to offer an email address. A password will be mailed
to you immediately, at which point you can change the PW and look around,
change your own settings, etc. The registration process takes very little
time, and you aren't required to go through a bunch of profile screens.

If you have a homepage and would like to advertise the 3WS mailing list,
check out http://www.filknet.org for information about graphics and
subscribe buttons and all that good stuff.

I know this has been a long and boring message, but please (she said
redundantly) keep it for your future reference.

I am glad you asked to be subscribed to 3WS-discuss. I hope you'll enjoy the
conversation and occasional silliness here, and I hope you'll come out to
