Hi, Jan--
Our list is about information, not about large scale fonts and colors that
some people can't see on their computers. Email sent here should only be in
plain text. When html (pretty web picture) email is sent to someone who
can't see html, what they see looks full of gobbledygook <gobbledygook>
<fontsize 14> <color blue> Like This </fontsize> </color> </gobbledygook>
The information is all obscured, inside the HTML markup tags (that stuff
inside the brackets). When someone sends text email to someone who's mailer
reads or sends HTML, it looks like plain text. Despite the fact that it's
not pretty, it aptly conveys information. Text is best for email, period.
Regards,
Gwen (who remembers when it was OK to say, 'This web thing is just a big,
soggy waste of bandwidth. It's slow, it's stupid, and it doesn't convey
large amounts of information worth a flip.')

I have news for you; The stag bells, winter snows, summer has gone.
Wind high and cold, the sun low, short its course, the sea running
high. Deep red the bracken, its shape is lost; the wild goose has
raised its accustomed cry. Cold has seized the blackbirds' wings;
Season of ice, this is my news. (Ireland, 9th century)
