[3WS-discuss] Welcome to the new 3WS discussion list!

Welcome, everybody, to the new Three Weird Sisters discussion and
announcement list. For those of you who've been subscribed to the egroups
(now Yahoo!) list for awhile, will see two major changes. First, the subject
line (you probably already noticed that) will now read [3WS-discuss] rather
than just plain old [3WS]. If there's enough of an outcry, I suppose I could
change it back, but because there were questions about the nature of the
previous list from a couple of subscribers, I think it's best to state up
front that this is a discussion and announcement list, and from time to time
there is actual conversation here. Second, the list address has changed. If
you had a filter on your mailer to put these messages into a special folder,
you'll need to modify it. Below, you'll find the important information.

Please, KEEP THIS MESSAGE for future reference, as it contains important
information about the mailing list and how to change your status on the
list. All the commands are very simple and can be sent via email as well as
accessed through a web interface. Keeping this message can reduce the
workload involved with changing your status to a couple of cut-and-paste
moves, typing one or three words, and pressing 'send'. ;)

Administrativia:
To send a message to the list, email 3ws-discuss@filknet.org

To subscribe to the list, send email to 3ws-discuss-request@filknet.org with
a subject line of 'subscribe' (you don't need the quotes).

To unsubscribe from the list, send email to 3ws-discuss-request@filknet.org
with a subject line of 'unsubscribe' (you don't need the quotes).

To choose a digest subscription, send email to listar@filknet.org with a
subject line of 'set 3ws-discuss digest' (you don't need the quotes). This
command will change your subscription to digest format.

To change from digest to individual emails, send email to listar@filknet.org
with a subject line of 'unset 3ws-discuss digest' (you don't need the
quotes). This command changes your subscription back to individual emails.

For other mailing list commands, send email to listar@filknet.org with a
subject line of 'commands' (you don't need the quotes), and a list of
commands will be sent to you via return email.

To access the WWW interface and change your subscription to the list or just
to check it out, go to http://www.filknet.org and head for the mailing list
section. You will need to offer an email address. A password will be mailed
to you immediately, at which point you can change the PW and look around,
change your own settings, etc. The registration process takes very little
time, and you aren't required to go through a bunch of profile screens.

If you have a homepage and would like to advertise the 3WS mailing list,
check out http://www.filknet.org for information about graphics and
subscribe buttons and all that good stuff.

I know this has been a long and boring message, but please (she said
redundantly) keep it for your future reference. From here on out, it will be
smooth sailing and posting, I hope-- we don't expect a large Internet
business to buy filknet.org anytime soon. ;)

FYI, I did not officially destroy the Yahoo! 3WS list. I closed
subscriptions and disabled posting and left it in the Yahoo!Groups directory
as a pointer to this list. Many people search through those group listings
looking for new mailing lists to subscribe to, and I'd hate for them not to
know about Three Weird Sisters. Nobody accessing Yahoo can get your email
address from those group listings, but if you're worried about it, hit the
yahoo!groups site and unsubscribe yourself, or if you don't want to go
through the hassle, just email me and I will do it. If you were subscribed
to the list before, Yahoo! already has your email address. They have owned
egroups for months, and the mailing list switch happened with very little
warning yesterday. Moderators of lists were not even informed that their
lists would be switching over so they could warn their subscribers ahead of
time.

Take care-- February's update is coming soon!

Hugs,
GwenZ, listmom and wireharp evangelist

I have news for you; The stag bells, winter snows, summer has gone.
Wind high and cold, the sun low, short its course, the sea running
high. Deep red the bracken, its shape is lost; the wild goose has
  raised its accustomed cry. Cold has seized the blackbirds' wings;
Season of ice, this is my news. (Ireland, 9th century)
